Back home in the Field

I just got back home from Parelli  a few weeks ago. I had an awesome expirience at the Florida Parelli Center for alomost 9 months! I'm happy to be home visiting my family until the end of November and then i will be moving to Canton, Texas to teach in the field as a 2 star jounior Parelli Instructor. I am very excited to get started and to meet new people and horses and to share some of the amazing things that i have learned.

Its been a while since posted anything last...its been really busy for us here at the Florida Parelli Canter getting ready for the move to Colorado. Most everyone is gone now. The externs leave early in the morning and then it will just be 6 employees here. A lot has happened the last couple of weeks. Everyday has an interesting adventure to it! the picture here is of us cutting through what feels like a rain forest looking for some lost cows that decided to break down the fence and go exploring! After getting caught in a few briers we found them and got them all back.
It has been a little dry here for some reason but it has'nt gotten too hot yet. Next week hopefully we will be starting some projects. We will be taking down lots of old fence and putting new up in the fall. It will look really nice!  I posted a bunch of pictures i took recently of some of the work we have been doing on my facebook page.

Staying here at Parelli all Summer!

Hello Everyone,

Well the Externship is all finished and the next one has begun! I am very excited to have gotten a second star and passed official level 4 in liberty. It has been quite a journey for me since January and it's not stopping anytime soon.
I have been invited to stay here at the Parelli center in Ocala for the summer as a parelli employee! This is a great opportunity for me to learn how Pat runs his facilities and to continue forward with my horsemanship. We have been working here already for over a week and it has been for me a huge learning experience in many ways.
I will share some things to you all that we do through this summer. It is going to be a lot of fun!! Until next time...Keep it Natural

Well just reveiws left this afternoon and then we are all done.
I think there is going to be a bit of a party tomorrow with a BBQ so that should be fun!

Externship - Riding with Linda - last week and testing

Last week we got to have a couple of sessions with Linda Parelli on the "Game of Contact". It was one of those concepts that I have heard  a lot of before but never truly understood the process or the purpose. Linda shared with us how she came up with the Game of Contact then we studied it with her before riding. Once we got to the riding part Linda was able to help all of us in such an amazing way. I was amazed just how much it helped me and my horse with Finesse. My horse Fuego has only been started for about a year and I didn't have enough savvy to start picking up contact with out messing something up. After we experimented with it for a while Fuego figured out what to do with the contact and we are making so much progress in Finesse now.

We started final testing yesterday. It is sad that this is the last week of our Externship. We have made a lot of new friends, have developed into a fantastic team and have grown so much in every way. It will be exciting to see what will happen next in all of our journeys.

Externship Update - NVRHA Competition

We all had an awesome week and an even better weekend! We were able to volunteer and help with the first east coast National Versatility Ranch Horse Association clinic and competion on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday was spent helping set up and expirament with staying on our balance point when staying ready to be where we needed to be for anyone at any time... we also had the chance to audit the whole event. We learned about incorporating the parelli patterns with the reining and working cow horse patterns, we also learned a bit about cattle savvy with Pat Parelli. Then Dave the president, worked with the group on trail and showmanship savvy. The other 3 hour class was done by Martin Black on cutting and more cattle savvy.

Sunday the competition took place and was placed as the announcer for the whole day, through every class such as the reining cow horse, showmanship, trail, cutting and ranch horse conformation class. We spent the whole day doing this and then had the ending cerimony where everyone was awarded their places and ribbons.
